AN EARLY XVIII CENTURY CARDINAL'S SEAT

AN EARLY XVIII CENTURY CARDINAL'S SEAT

An Italian early 18th Century gilt wood Cardinal’s chair on lion paw feet. The ‘X’ frame seat has it original water gilding and gold bullion and velvet fabric. The velvet, once cardinal red, has worn down and the gold and silver threads suggest: doves, foliage and a crown. At the front is a carved coat of arms surmounted with a Cardinal’s hat.
