An exceptional George II gilt wood console table, purchased in c.1790 for the newly built Knocklofty House, Tipperary for the Earl of Donoughmore. It has remained in this splendid Georgian house until now, in the family wing and we purchased it from the current Earl.
The console is a stunning example of English craftsmanship in the school of William Kent / John Vardy. Beautifully and intricately carved and gilded with a shaped breche viola marble top. It is even more appealing as it is in 'Country House Condition' with no restoration or damage.
